# Refined for the Next Level ✨
Lately, God has really been dealing with me about the word refine.
According to Webster’s Dictionary, refine means:
to remove impurities or unwanted elements; to improve something by making small changes; to bring to a pure state.
But when we look deeper spiritually, the word becomes even more powerful.
In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word connected to refining is tsaraph (צָרַף), which means:
to melt down, test, purge, purify through fire, or refine precious metals like silver and gold.
And yes, before somebody asks 😄… I did what I often encourage others to do — I used my trusty assistant on ChatGPT to help me dig deeper into the word refined. One thing I appreciate about tools like this is that you do not have to be a professional writer or a Bible scholar to study deeper. Sometimes we have the heart and the hunger to learn, but we simply need help gathering the information and understanding it better.
Technology, when used with wisdom and discernment, can become another tool to help us study, grow, research, organize our thoughts, and go deeper into the Word of God. It does not replace God — it simply helps me study what God is already showing me.
Refining was not a quick process. A refiner would sit closely beside the fire and watch carefully as silver or gold was heated. The heat would cause the impurities to rise to the surface so they could be removed. The refiner could not walk away too soon, or the metal would be ruined.
That is why Malachi 3:3 blesses me so deeply:
📖 “He will sit as a refiner and a purifier of silver…” — Malachi 3:3 (NKJV)
Notice the scripture does not say He will rush.
It does not say He will abandon the process.
It says He will sit.
That means God stays with us during the process of purification.
When life gets uncomfortable, when pressure rises, when separation happens, when habits have to change, when certain people can no longer go where God is taking us — God does not leave us in the fire alone. He sits with us while He refines us.
And I’m learning that refinement is not punishment.
It is preparation.
Sometimes God removes things from our lives because they cannot survive in the place He is taking us. Every mindset cannot go. Every relationship cannot go. Every habit cannot go. Sometimes even old versions of ourselves cannot go.
A few years ago, I started my website and began blogging regularly. I loved sharing encouragement and the things God placed on my heart. But then life began to happen. Responsibilities shifted. Seasons changed. And somewhere along the way, the writing became quieter.
But lately, I’ve felt God nudging me again.
So here I am… starting again.
Not trying to overdo it. Not trying to be perfect. Just committing to share once or twice a week what God is teaching me while I am personally being refined.
My prayer is that as I share my experiences, another woman, another man, someone trying to heal, obey, grow, or simply survive difficult seasons, will identify with these words and realize there is something powerful waiting on the other side of obedience.
There is peace on the other side.
Growth on the other side.
Purpose on the other side.
Freedom on the other side.
And as my mother, Ola Allen, always said:
“I am blessed to be a blessing.”
That is my goal in this season — to allow God to use my experiences, my lessons, my stretching, and even my refining to bless somebody else.
So if this season feels uncomfortable… don’t panic.
You may not be falling apart.
You may simply be being refined.
